Hey, beauties! Like so many of you, I LOVE makeup brushes – quality brushes. However, they can be very expensive depending on the brand. I think It Cosmetics makes the best quality brushes for any type of makeup application. Yes, they are expensive, but I received all of mine by buying my makeup products from QVC who throws in the right brush for that product for just a few dollars more than what the product retails for.
Today, I took an inventory of all of my makeup brushes that I’ve accumulated over the years – whether they be for eye makeup, blush, lips, highlighters, or complexion. This is my current stash. Please ignore the middle glass that contains all of my liners and shadow sticks.
The brushes shown on the left are my brushes for eyes, lips, highlighters, shadow liners, and sometimes concealers. The ones on the right are all of my complexion brushes – foundation, powders, bronzers, and blushes. But, the reason I’m writing this post is to talk about why brushes are so vital in getting the best application of your makeup. I’m also going to highlight my It Cosmetics brushes specifically and what I use them for.
These brushes are fantastic for the application of your foundation – liquid or powder. I tend to use the left for my pressed powder foundation and the right for my liquid foundation. The slant on the brush on the right is perfect for getting those difficult spots on your face such as under your eyes. It can also be used for pressed powder foundation, but I like to keep them separate for each product. Both of these brushes give a truly flawless application of your foundation.
These brushes are almost identical, but the one on the left is to be used with my pressed finishing powder. The one on the right is specifically used for loose finishing powder. Both are amazing and provide the proper application of that particular product. Although, I do have issues with one of my pressed finishing powders that I’ve written a past post about.
The brush pictured on the left is slanted to hug your cheek as you apply blush. You really can’t mess up with this. The right brush is intended to be used for It Cosmetics’ cream compact highlighter. However, I found an even better use for this brush – concealer. I first apply my concealer under my eyes and then use this brush to spread and blend. The pointed tip is great for getting in the corners and right under the lashline. There’s an ongoing debate whether concealer should be brought that close to the lashline, but that’s another post altogether. The pink glitter brush is my favorite powder highlighter brush. It’s not It Cosmetics, but I received it in a past Ipsy Bag.
So, what exactly is the reason for my drawn out post? I wanted to share with you the brushes that I use for different products that really do provide a flawless application of your makeup. Think about it. Do makeup artists use brushes or their fingers? I think it’s safe to say that using brushes is their application of choice. Also, if you are unsure of the type of brush to use for a certain product, my hope is that you can get an idea of what to use!
Makeup brushes are one of the things that I will splurge on. However, I do save a lot of money by buying the bundle on QVC rather than individually at Ulta or Sephora.
I hope this post can help you if you’re on the fence about the type of brush to use. Do you have a favorite brand of brushes that you use most often? Do you prefer to utilize makeup brushes? I’d love to hear your comments!
As always, stay beautiful!
You do have lots of them😂🙈. I use MAC brushes. They are very good and I think I bought them from eBay or Amazon, but I don’t remember how much was the set of 24. I love them and I use them as often as possible x
